Study Description

The data used for these studies was obtained from the MN/ROAD Research Project located on Interstate 94 in central Minnesota.

Objectives

(1) Load instrumented flexible and rigid pavements at the Minnesota Test Road with various axle and tire configurations at different speeds (2) Monitor pavement responses under these conditions while tracking material properties through instrumentation and testing (3) Compare the results of the testing to those obtained from three dimension finite element models developed for flexible and rigid pavements.

Scope of Work

The methodologies were based on mechanistic stress, strains, and deflections in conjunction with theoretical models.
