This study supplements NCHRP Project 3-59, Assessment of Variable Speed Limit Implementation Issues. See http://www4.trb.org/trb/crp.nsf/All+Projects/NCHRP+3-59.
The intent of the project supplement is to validate the use of technology assisted speed enforcement (TASE). In the pilot, an independent evaluation of this program will attempt to answer three questions: 1) Does the TASE device accurately and reliably measure speeds for specific vehicles? 2) Are police officers operating the device properly? 3) Is the information from the device being accurately transmitted to officers downstream?
